OZONATOR
What is OZONE?
Ozone is a three-atom form of oxygen, a naturally occurring compound in the earth’s atmosphere. It is nature’s agent for cleaning and treating both air and water. Ozone is the clean fresh smell in the air following a thunderstorm, the bright blue sky and brilliant colors of nature are due to ozone, created by lightning and the sun’s energy.
What are the benefits of Ozone?
Ozone kills bacteria 3,000 times faster than chlorine without the inherent danger of producing hazardous by-products like trihalomethanes.
- Kills bacteria and virus on contact
- Destroys algae, fungus, mold, and yeast spores in air, removing all kinds of odors
- In water application, it oxidizes oils and precipitate heavy metals
- Removes excess iron, aluminum and manganese, naturally without chemicals
- Reduces algae, slime and scale buildup on piping and equipment like air conditioners, heaters, boilers, and cooling towers without the use of expensive chemicals
- Reduces stains on clothing and eliminates the organic matter that could cloud water or air and cause a foul smell
Is Ozone safe?
Ozone has been the preferred treatment in Europe since 1893 for drinking water. There are now over 2,500 cities worldwide relying on ozone for their drinking water treatment and about 30,000 swimming pools use ozone for their pool treatment.
For air applications, Ozone is used in the treatment of cancer and AIDS. Ozone is also now being introduced in disinfecting instruments, minimization of air-borne particles for laboratories and water stations.
Ozone generators used to be sold for huge, commercial and industrial use only. Now there are smaller ozone generators that the general public can enjoy the same results.
Ozone has a long safety record that spans over 100 years of commercial operations. Unlike other oxidants, there are no ozone-related reported deaths. Properly designed and operated ozone systems will provide a safe and reliable source of ozone.
How does Ozone work?
Ozone cannot be stored or transported because it reverts to oxygen quickly, so ozone has to be generated or produced on site. Being a gas, it is highly reactive and readily oxidizes organic matter.
When ozone encounters another compound, one oxygen atom will break away, attach itself to the compound and oxidizes it. Ozone actually breaks down odor-causing compound, thereby eliminating the odor and changing the ozone back to oxygen.
Unlike other disinfectants, ozone kills bacteria within a few seconds by a process known as CELL LYSING. Ozone ruptures the cell membrane, dispenses the cell’s cytoplasm and makes reactivation impossible.
One of the best features of ozone is its ability to control diseases and odors by destroying the offending organisms. By eliminating microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, mold, fungi and algae, ozone keeps the environment safe and pleasant.
Applications
| Areas | Ozone Application |
|---|---|
| Respiratory and asthma problems | Minimizes the presence of airborne pollens and particles that affect sensitive respiratory tracts. Enhances the drying of runny and stuffy noses. |
| Hotels and Motels | Hotels need to maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in order to keep pace with strong competition. Portable ozone generators like the Electromex Room Ozonator disinfects rooms, toilets and lobbies. It deodorizes various areas left with food and smoke odor especially after functions or parties; cleaning, painting and decorating operations, new carpets and drapes. |
| Office & residential condos | Air re-circulation systems, effectively stops algae, fungus and bacteria formation, saves maintenance expense, cuts down on the amount of outside air needed. Most effective in killing odors in all types of centrally ventilated office buildings. Destroys food and other odors from various apartments, kills germs and deodorizes garbage rooms. |
| Supermarkets/ groceries | Installed in air conditioning units to keep air fresh at all times. Ideal for meat preparation areas, vegetable, fish and storage areas. Removes odor that may emanate from products being sold. Kills air-borne bacteria like salmonella normally found in fish & meats. |
| Barber shops/ beauty parlors | Disinfects rooms. Destroys odors of hair sprays, nail polish, perms, etc. Keeps air fresh. |
| Restaurants, bars & food shops | Removes food odors coming from the kitchen or inside the dining area. Ideal for pizza, Japanese, Korean, and fast food restaurants where the odor of the food sticks on clothes. For bars and cafes with presence of odor and dense cigarette smoke. |
| Manufacturing factories | Cleans and disinfects food machinery and other equipment that are highly sensitive towards corrosion and scale build-up. It also disinfects and deodorizes production areas. Kills bacteria and viruses that may contaminate both products and workers, particularly in dressing plants and chemical plants. |
| Banks | Removes stench from money stored in vault. For storage areas and central ventilating system. Kills bacteria and viruses brought in by people. Leaves a fresh scent. |
| Hospitals | For disinfecting rooms, especially ICUs, operating rooms, communicable diseases’ area, food preparation area, garbage rooms, smoking areas and disinfecting laundry. |
| Department stores | Stores smell nice and fresh when opened in the morning. Kills bacteria or viruses brought in by shoppers. |
| Movie houses/ theaters | Destroys and removes all kinds of odors caused by people, food, spilled drinks, and smoke. |
| Poultry and piggery pens | Big budget goes to antibiotics and disinfectants. Will address both water and air concerns in killing bacteria and viruses, without use of chemicals. |
